Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 1 May 2026
1. Who we are
Comedy Lab ("the Service") is operated by Ian Mullen ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you ("you", "user") agree to these Terms.
2. Acceptance
By signing up for or continuing to use Comedy Lab, you confirm you accept these Terms and agree to comply with them. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service. You confirm that you are of legal age to enter into this agreement, or have authority to bind the organisation you represent.
3. The service
Comedy Lab provides AI-assisted comedy writing tools — guided ideation, structure training, rewrites, drills, and a personal notebook. Outputs from AI features are generated by machine-learning models and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and deciding how to use any output.
4. Acceptable use
You must not misuse the Service. In particular, you must not:
- use the Service unlawfully or to commit fraud;
- generate content that is illegal, defamatory, hateful, harassing, or that infringes the rights of others;
- generate sexual content involving minors, or content designed to harm or deceive (e.g. malicious deepfakes);
- attempt to jailbreak, reverse engineer, or circumvent safety or technical limits;
- scrape, probe, or interfere with the security or integrity of the Service;
- resell or redistribute the Service or its outputs in a way that competes with us.
You are solely responsible for the prompts you submit, the use you make of outputs, and for ensuring you have rights to any content you input.
5. Accounts
You must provide accurate information and keep your account credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
6. Subscriptions and payment
Comedy Lab is offered as a paid subscription with a 7-day free trial, followed by a recurring monthly or yearly fee. Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled.
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation, and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms.
7. Intellectual property
We own all rights in the Service, including the software, branding, and documentation. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service in line with your subscription. You retain rights in the content you create using the Service, subject to a limited licence for us to host and process it solely to provide the Service.
8. Content moderation
We may remove or restrict content, refuse or filter outputs, and suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms or applicable law. We provide a takedown pathway for rights-holders — contact us using the details below.
9. Service availability
We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free performance. To the fullest extent permitted by law, all implied warranties are disclaimed.
10. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability under or in connection with these Terms is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim. We exclude liability for indirect, consequential, or special losses (including loss of profits, data, or goodwill). Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by negligence, where such limitation is not permitted by law.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access for material breach, non-payment, suspected fraud or security risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; you may export your content for a reasonable period before deletion.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the Service or email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
14. Contact
Questions about these Terms: contact Ian Mullen via the support email shown in your account.
